Bars I'm Thankful For, 2019

Wow it’s Thanksgiving again? That was fast. Here is the third edition of Bars I’m Thankful For, updated for 2019. Some are old, some are new, some I’ve frequented, some I’ve reviewed!

In a tough as nails city like New York, it’s important to have the spots you can rely on, and with all the uncertainty in this world, I’m grateful for them. So cheers to the bars that have my back! Maybe they’ll have yours too.

Manhattan:

Angel’s Share: 8 Stuyvesant St nr 3rd Ave, East Village (cocktail bar)

Death and Co: 433 E 6th St btw 1st Ave and Ave A, East Village (one of the cocktail bars that started it all, I’ve recently read their seminal cocktail book cover to cover so it’s time to thank them properly)

Mace: 505 E 12th St at Ave A, East Village (cocktail bar)

Pouring Ribbons: 225 Ave B btw 13th and 14th St, East Village (cocktail bar)

The Penrose: 1590 2nd Ave btw 82nd and 83rd St, Upper East Side (fun cocktail bar that is still few and far between on the UES)

Uva: 1486 2nd Ave nr E 77th St, Upper East Side (wine bar)

French Roast: 2340 Broadway at W 85th St, Upper West Side (24/7 French cafe. Lots of fond high school memories for me here.)

Bar Moga: 128 W Houston St at Sullivan St, Greenwich Village, (20’s-style Japanese cocktail bar)

Undercote: 16 W 22nd St btw 5th and 6th Aves, Flatiron (cocktail bar underneath a Korean steakhouse with a daiquiri and daiquiri pun that I am still thinking about weeks later)

Bathtub Gin: 132 9th Ave btw 18th and 19th St, Chelsea (speakeasy cocktail bar where I used to work. Pro tip: go between 5pm-7pm before it gets too crowded. And Monday night is jazz night.)
